![]() Selected Works: GloryThis figure group in clay is over half-lifesized, about three feet tall. It was inspired by a description I once read of a now lost sculpture by Gustave Dore'. Dore's piece was called 'Gloria' and was said to depict an allegorical figure of glory, simultaneously crowning and stabbing the recipient of, well, glory. It was meant to illustrate what a double-edged sword fame can be. No photographs of Dore's work appears to have survived, and after trying to imagine what it might look like, I decided to tackle the theme myself. Instead of the typical toga-wearing graceful figure, I chose to represent Glory as a somewhat monstrous force of nature. The clay model was molded but never cast.
