This terra cotta bust is lifesized, signed, and is numbered 2/7. Sculpted in 2006 in Florence, 'Man from Senegal' is one of the few terra cotta busts I've done in an edition. The distinctive marks on the surface of this piece comes from the process of press molding, the manner in which the terra cotta editions are reproduced by hand. Rather than smoothing out the marks, I felt the 'marbled' texture of the clay lent an earthy quality to the piece.
